About WebLondonHotels

An independent London hotel guide built around one question: which of these actually makes sense for the trip you are taking?

WebLondonHotels is a decision guide, not a booking platform. We hold 535 London properties, organised into 20 location hubs and 12 stay types. We compare them by location, practical access, verified property information, price context and nearby alternatives, and we focus on the details that decide a specific trip rather than listing every available room in the city.

Why this site exists

Booking platforms are very good at inventory. Type a date, get eight hundred results, sort by price. What they are less good at is the thing you actually want to know, which is whether a particular address will work for a particular trip.

A review score of 8.4 does not tell you which side of a station you are on. A map pin marked 1.2 miles does not tell you that the route crosses a river. A facility filter tells you a box was ticked, not who ticked it or when. Those gaps are where this site works.

What we do and do not do

We do

  • Calculate the distance from each property postcode to the venue, station or area a page is about, and publish it as a straight line.
  • List the nearest stations with the networks they actually carry.
  • Check facilities one property at a time against the property or an established guide, and record where each fact came from.
  • Date every rate we show, because a London hotel rate without a date is a guess dressed up as a fact.
  • Say when an address is the wrong choice.

We do not

  • Stay in hotels and write it up as though we had. We are not a review site and we do not pretend to inspect properties.
  • Publish walking times we have not measured.
  • Invent a facility, a rating or a review count to make a page look complete.
  • Rank hotels without saying what the ranking is for.
  • Let a commercial link change a conclusion.

Where the data comes from

  • Property records. A London accommodation inventory, filtered to hotels, guest houses, aparthotels and comparable managed properties. Private room and single-apartment listings are excluded.
  • Coordinates. Postcode-level geocoding, used to calculate every distance on the site.
  • Stations and neighbourhoods. OpenStreetMap, which is also why some micro-location names on this site are narrower than the district a booking platform would show you.
  • Property facts. Checked individually, with the source recorded against each property. 175 of the 535 properties currently carry checked facts.

How we make money

Some links to booking partners are affiliate links. If you book through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the whole model, and it is the reason the editorial rules above are written down rather than assumed. The selection, the order and the trade-offs on every page are set before any link is attached, and they do not change afterwards.

If a page would stop being useful the moment the booking buttons disappeared, it is not finished.

Corrections

Facilities close, policies change and properties are refurbished or renamed. If something on this site is wrong, tell us and we will check it against the property and correct it. Please include the page you were looking at.
