Best Hotels in London, by a Stated Criterion

There is no single best hotel in London. There are properties that win a specific comparison, and those are worth naming.

"Best" only means something once you say best at what. Below are 8 picks from our London selection, each attached to a criterion you can check for yourself. None of them is a ranking of quality, because we do not inspect hotels and we will not pretend otherwise.

Every claim on this page is one of two things: a distance we calculated from postcodes, or a facility we confirmed against the property or an established guide. Nothing here rests on a review score or an impression.

Why there is no number one

A general ranking would have to weigh a pool against a station, and a room size against a rate, on behalf of somebody whose trip we know nothing about. Any weights we chose would be invented. The honest structure is the one above: a list of comparisons, each with its rule stated, so you can take the one that matches your trip and ignore the rest.

If none of these criteria is yours, the location hubs are the better starting point. They order every property in a cluster by distance and let you sort on anything else.

Common questions

What is the best hotel in London?

We do not answer that, because the question has no answer without a criterion. What we can tell you is which property in our selection is closest to a given venue, which has the lowest observed rate with a confirmed pool, and so on. Those are on this page.

Do you rank hotels by review score?

No. Review scores are useful to the platform that collects them and much less useful out of context. We would rather publish a distance we calculated and a facility we confirmed than a number we cannot reproduce.

How do you decide which hotels appear at all?

Our current selection holds 535 London properties. Private room and single-apartment listings are excluded. A property only reaches the index once its page carries more than a name, an address and a price. The method is here.
